The soundfonts take up a lot of RAM and if you get low on memory, Windows likes to silently kill other running processes. There's a setting in the configuration to have it launch at startup.Īlso, because I've had this problem: If it's set to launch at startup but you keep finding it not running, Windows may be killing it. You should have a notification area icon and VirtualMIDISynth.exe in the task manager. I think you'd end up with Windows midi if it weren't, but it's worth check. (Otherwise, you'd be getting the crappy Windows midi.) FWIW I have this setup working on Win 7 my DOSBox mididevice setting is Win32 If you're getting no audio, you probably have the midi mapper settings correct.
